We caught up with Hugo to talk a bit more about him and his Barberia de Hugo.

So how did this all start? Have you always been a fan of shaving, barbering, beards and moustaches?
I have always been a very creative person and have always liked creating something with my hands and a Barber Shop was the perfect way to combine those two passions.
Dedicated and passionate about this returning art I decided the time was right to open my own Barber Shop.
You look after each customer your self! How do keep up with the growing demands for well groomed faces?
My idea is to give every customer a personalised and uniquely tailored experience. Every client is given an appointment. This is the perfect way to meet the demands for my services where the client can relax and enjoy some time of personal care far from the stress of every day life.
We love the look of your brand and the look of your shop. Where did the inspiration for it all come from?
I was inspired by the traditional and old fashioned Barber shops, pharmacies and shops of the 1920, 1930 and 1940th. I have used furniture that I have restored and redecorated. I have even used pieces saved from the street which now give the perfect touch to the Barberia. Our pride and joy are barbers chairs from the 1940th which are in perfect condition.

How has the brand evolved in the last year?
In reality my Barberia only opened in November 2014 and we are truly happy and proud with the the success of barber Hugo and its amazing clients which every day pass through my hands!
There are many different type of beards. An Imperial, a Charlie, a Goaty, a Van Dyke, a Stubble, a Perilla, a Five O Clock Shadow to name a few. Where do you get your inspiration for your looks?
When we look at antique Barber menus we can see many different types of beards and moustaches. In the Barberia Hugo we offer looks that are adapted to the needs and preferences of every client. Every person has their own unique look and we aim to help them enhance it.

Red wine or white?
Both have their time and place.
Why in your opinion are men favouring well groomed facial hair again?
Personally I think that every person in their live pass through a number of phases and looks in the search of the perfect style that we find comfortable and suits our personality. I also think that television, music and social media play a big part in our society … AND 2014 WAS the year of the beard and moustache!
if you could describe your personality with a type of beard which one would you be?
Any type of beard really!
But with the Barberai Hugo I am the new beard on the block! Ha ha!

In 5 years time I would like to be working with the same dedication and love for the work as have feel now for my Barberia. I see myself growing on a personal level, get involved with projects and perhaps even open another Barberia.

What is your passion besides barbering?
I love sport, music, animals, art… traveling. I have a lot of interests… and not enough disposable time!

Spring and Summer! I love the sun!
Chocolate or Vanilla?
Half and half!
If you won 20.000 Euro what would you do with it?
Enjoy the calm, take a holiday with my wife and invest into the Barberia.
