Christmas Markets Andraitx, Mancor de Vall, Alaro and Palma

Gaia Christmas Shopping this weekend.
Christmas coming closer and closer and here are your last opportunities to have a look at what Gaia has to offer if you don t fancy coming into Palma.
The island is seeing more and more of the traditional Christmas markets that we know from Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Gluhwein, traditional foods, Christmas biscuits and tree decorations and beautiful handcrafted small gifts. It is nice to see that this tradition is taking foot on our island. It give small traders and crafts people an opportunity to show what they produce and makes a refreshing change from the high- street corporate giants.

1 December Trudi will be at the Christmas Market in Andraitx's Plaza

30thNovember / 1 December  our Rosa is at Manocor de Vall for the anual Mushroom Festival

14th & 15th of December again Trudi at the Christams Market in Alaro

3rd of December until after the Reyes you will find various members of the Gaia Team on the Ramblas in Palma, with the anual Christmas Market.

The Palma lights are fabulous as always and it is well worth an evening in the city. A little shopping, a little Gluhwein, the Palma Christmas lights... nothing better to get into the Christmas spirit. We will have a great selection of perfect small Christmas gifts with us and as it is by now customary we will treat our clients to a glass of cava when you visit our stalls.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Ayurveda in Gaia

Ayurveda (Sanskrit Āyurveda आयुर्वेद, "life-knowledge"; English pronunciation /ˌ.ərˈvdə/[1])

'Grounding', 'Calming' and' Invigorating'
Oils, Soaps and Mood Mists made to the Ayurvedic Principles
to support  'Vata', 'Pitta'  and 'Kapha' types

Blanca, our resident Gaia Therapist has just come back from an extended sabatical to India. During her 7 month travel of 8 Indian states in an effort to find a perfect location for her next project she found the time to study some Ayurvedic Basics. Back now in Mallorca and staying at the Gaia Finca, Blanca and I have been working on a basic Ayurvedic range. Our idea is to develop an Ayurvedic inspired range with herbs and spices from India but also from our more imediate enviroment, our Island of Mallorca.

Lots of early evening consultations and discussions under the
Jasmine Stars and the New Moon.

We are looking to make 3 Body Massage Oils to be
                                                         1. Grounding
                                                          2.Invigorating
                                                          3. Calming
Complimented with three soaps to match and finaly a Mood Mist to finish the Ritual.

This Ayurvedic Range would be recommended for use twice a year to detox, boost the immune system and give the body a thorough pampering and loving!
The chosen massage oil should be applied in self, all over massage and then, in the shower the soap will be used to removed the small unabsorbed oil residues. To finish the ritual immerse yourself into a cloud of mood mist.

Ayurvedic Massage Oil Blends
'Vata','Pitta' and 'Kapha'
The finished Oils

Blanca has been decocting her selection of herbs, spices and plants ready for mixing and reducing into oils. As base oils we have chosen to cook in Sesame Seed Oil and then blend each of the 3 oils down with a virgin oil mixed with enhancing essential oils to make a deeply detoxing, healing and skin toning and soothing Ayurvedic Oil Blend.
For the soaps we are mixing the same selection of herbs and spices into the soap blend as active, exfoliating ingredients. The result has given us 3 beautifully coloured and quite distinctly different soaps.
Our final stage but also the crowning part of this range is the mood mist which carries all the Vata, Pitta Kapha related herbs and spices as essential oils which enter through the skin and give an all over feeling of wellness and balance to carry you through the day.

Blending the Essential Oils
for the Mood Mists

Ayurvedic Soaps

Soaps made to the Ayurvedic Principles
to support  'Vata', 'Pitta'  and 'Kapha' types

Adding final touches and we
are pleased

Facial Acupuncture in Gaia Bathtime from October 2013

ACU-NOVA

Acupuncture in Mallorca

Gaia Bathtime is teaming up with Anne Verrinder from Acu-Nova and is offering its clients the opportunity to use facial Acupuncture to reduce the lines on the face and neck. Facial acupuncture is known to be very effective. Our clients can receive a completely free trial session when buying any of our Gaia Goddess products, which are ether the Palma Rosa Facial Polisher, the Goddess Oil, the Rose Water or the Gaia Goddess Massage Oil. Anne tells me that 8 sessions over 2 month is an ideal amount that will truly show results which will last you for about 6 to 8 month by which time you will want to repeat.

Ater the summer my skin really needed a little TLC and then the offer of Facial Acupuncture came just at the right time.
I have tried it and could see a difference after just one session. It was not an unpleasant sensation in fact the word to describe it would be relaxing. Anne inserted some needles in my feet and hands before starting on the face in order to aid relaxation, balance and wellness. She is very competent, calm, and knowledgeable on sorts of female wellness issues and a great person to have a chat with while you are waiting for the needles to turn back the clock! We are combining every acupuncture session with our Gaia Rose Facial, so after two month of a once weekly session you will look truly fabulous!

So when next stocking up on one of the Goddess items in our range ask for an appointment for a completely free trial session. Ask us about the payment options we offer to make this a beauty Treatment that anybody can afford. The payment plan we offer and with Christmas coming up this could be the gift to ask for or to give to a good friend!

Frequently asked questions about Acupuncture

Are There Any Side Effects?

Cosmetic Acupuncture is very gentle and safe. After treatment it is common for the skin to appear slightly flushed for a few hours. This is very normal due to the increased circulation of blood to the face.
Very occasionally minor and temporary bruising may appear at the site of needle insertion.
Most people feel very relaxed and peaceful after their treatments and look forward to their next appointment.

What is The Best Age To Commence Treatments?

Treatment can be started at any age, but the ideal age for prevention of the signs of aging is in the late twenties/early thirties. It is also best to get treatment as soon as you notice a change in your face. The longer you leave an imbalance, the longer it takes to bring the body back into harmony. If you are already suffering from the signs of aging for example; fine lines, jowls, under eye bags, deep wrinkles then the time to start is NOW, age is immaterial

Cosmetic Acupuncture will help you age better as the benefits of this type of treatment are accumulative. Because it works not just on the face but also by creating energetic balance for the whole body, it does mean that you will look better for your age than your peers. You may not notice this immediately but as the years progress it will become obvious.

What does Acupuncture feel like?

Most people find acupuncture painless, although there are some sensations you might experience. A tiny pinch at the site of insertion, tingling or mild throbbing may be felt. Usually these feelings are comfortable and relaxing. There may also be a slight sensation on some points (often described as a dull ache or tingling) when the needle initially meets the acupuncture point and this quickly fades.

Are the needles safe?

Our needles are all one use only disposable needles and are completely safe and sterile.

What if I'm scared of needles?

Our Acupuncture needles are extremely fine and are nothing like the needles used for injections or blood tests. Most people are comfortable to have Acupuncture once they see how fine the needles are. The needles are inserted either for a few seconds or left in place for some time, depending on the results needed.

Summer in Gaia

Marta  from Spain and Jacopo from Italy
Summer as always is our lovliest but also busiest time at Gaia but this summer we have had a lot of wonderful help. In the shop we have Anni and Florence helping us out with the sales. Both of them have been amazing! Up at the Gaia Finca we have had a host of Whoofers helping on all fronts. Not only helping and learning our production techniques but also helping on the finca, clearing land, pruning trees and making firewood ready for the winter.

Whoofers relaxing at the end of
the day with the big Woof
Filling Rose Water
Car load of Bay and Rosemary

Meters of Soap for a new Flor de Sal Spa  Mandarine edition

Davina collecting Lavender
It has been nice to have all these young eager people from all over the world around. We learned from them too, specificaly Davina from the Bask Country who has a great knowledge of indiginous medicinal plants. We collected Hypericum flowers and put them into unrefined olive oil and strained it on the dia of Sant Juan. The oil turned a wonderful red colour and heals scrapes and grazes really well and fast. Hypericum is locally known as Sant Juans herb and in other parts of the world it is known as Sant Johns Wort. I saw lots of it growing in England when I visited my kids in Norfolk                                                   this summer.

Rosemary and Bay Leaf drying

You will all be pleased to hear that our finca was not hurt by the forest fires which raged within kilomters from us here in Andraitx for 6 days in late July. It was a really worrying time and we have much to be grateful for, as some of our neighboring fincas were not so lucky.

We launched some new products this summer.
A Pure Aloe Vera Aftersun Roll On made with 100 % pure Aloe Vera juice. The plants were grown, harvested and expressed here on the Gaia Finca. We just added 1% Lavender and Rosemary essential oil to scent it, preserve it and of course for its calming and healing properties. Who in these sunny does not need a good smothering of Aloe Vera at the end of a day?

We also launched two new Hand Creams, a Rose Hand Cream made from an old recipe that goes back to the Middleages when women took special care of their hands, as well cared for hands, that didn t do the dishes, showed you were a Lady of high status. The other one is a Lemon Hand Cream, an Italian recipe, that the Ladies there like to use to eliminate the smell of garlic and onion from their hands.

Our Gaia Man Range http://gaiabathtime.blogspot.com.es/2011/06/gaia-man-new-gaia-natural-product.html
is getting a face lift with very sexy stainless steel bottles... it will have a definate manly Porsch feel to it now. We have also added two new Body Massage Oils to the range. One for a young man, labeled SEX GOD and for the more mature man called THE BOSS.
http://gaiabathtime.blogspot.com.es/2013/03/goddess-body-massage-oils.html

Last but not least you can now buy a wonderfully scented Massage Candle from us. Light 20 minutes before you want to give that special someone a massage, and the pour it straight onto the body. It's made from 100% Soya Wax and has a Neroli and Rose scent. If you don t have a special someone you want to spoil ... just spoil yourself with a nourishing foot and hand massage... the Soya Wax leaves your feet and hands fabulous!

Blanca´s adventures of course can be followed, if you don t know this yet on

Wishing you all a brilliant summer.... enjoy the long days and wondeful temperatures and the golden glow of your skin! Which gives me an idea of a Body Glow with gold glitter in it.... maybe for next years summer?

00-gaia-iloveit-iunacreations

Old Salt Yacht Charter Soller perfects with Gaia Natural Amenities

The new name for this company, ¨Old Salt Sailing¨ came from the wish to honour the great sailing legends that have sailed with this fleet, throughout their more than 70 years of active life.

An ¨Old Salt¨ is an experienced sailor, a seafaring man, one who has many stories to tell of his adventures on the high seas. The Old Salts that have sailed on these boats, have left behind many a story of their own; some of which you can find on their web page in the press section. www.oldsaltsailing.com

The spirit of traditional sailing is very much alive in the fleet, and this is reflected in their rebranding. The concept of sailing on a fleet of classic boats, all owned and managed by the same company, is something unique to Old Salt Sailing. The boats are available for charter all year round, for both corporate and private events, offering tailor made trips to suit your requirements, such as; a relaxing summer vacation, day sailing trips, location use for photo and film shooting, or regattas and special events.

They may be chartered individually, or as any combination of the fleet.
Aboard the boats we offer you the perfect get away, to a bygone era filled with fun and adventure, and a unique opportunity, to explore and enjoy the Balearic Islands and the Mediterranean Sea

The fleet is based in the Port of Soller, which is in the Tramuntana mountain range, a recently declared UNESCO world heritage site. The mountains provide a truly breathtaking backdrop, for some wonderful sailing along the NW coast, allowing you to discover hidden coves that are only accessible by boat.
