Exfoliation and deep Hydration for Autumn

Fix your tan by exfoliating and hydrating with Gaia Goddess Cacao Butter pieces

All through the summer our skin produces plenty of oils, swimming in the sea and plenty of exposure to sun gives us a healthy glow.
Then autumn comes and quiet over night the skin has a dry appearance, especially the facial skin, with dry and sometimes red patches. I suffer near my eyebrows and around the mouth and nose areas. The best remedy for this is thorough and daily exfoliation for a few consecutive days.
Our Palmarosa Facial Polisher is ideal for this as you really can use it daily even twice a day should you feel you need it.
You apply the polisher by passing it over washed, warm skin which has been thoroughly cleaned with your soap or facial cleanser. Apply quite a substantial amount of the cacao butter enriched with rose petal powder and oats and then remove it with cotton pads soaked in Rose Water. To finish apply the Goddess Serum. Just a few drops from the pipette for the face and decolte. The serum is a base of Jojoba oil and Onagra *Evening Primrose Oil* with Rose Absolute, Lavender, Palmarosa, Clary Sage and Patchouli essential oils. All oils have been chosen to support the female skin and the serums properties act on the inside as well as the outside. It is a true woman's oil and the perfect routine to give your skin a healthy glow of summer.
Just a few days of tender loving care will restore your skin and leave you not so worried about sun damage that may have occurred.

Mallorca and the Celebration of Oranges

azahar
White flower, especially from the orange tree. From Spanish Arabic azzahár, and this from Classic Arabic zahr, flowers

The Naranjo or the Orange Tree is is one of the few trees that carry fruit and flower at the same time.
This time of year it is a sensuous delight to travel, maybe with the old train from Palma to Soller and go walking in the valley of Soller.

http://www.trendesoller.com/en/cms.php

The valley is full of the scent of orange blossom and the trees speckled with white blossoms are rich with the orange harvest. Everything at this time of year is about the oranges. Every bar serves fresh pressed orange juice, cases of oranges are for sale every where even the petrol stations and there are even Orange Fiestas.

We all get busy thinking about what we can make with this abundance of fruit and are usually busy exchanging recipes. From the most fabulous thick cut Orange Marmalades to a Orange Peel and Chorizo favourite from Nigellas recipes

to homemade Orangeade
http://thetiptoefairy.com/blog/2013/11/make-orangeade.html

At Gaia every year we get so inspired that we come up with lots of Orange product ideas.

Neroli is the essential oil from the leaf of the orange tree. It is especially invigorating and up lifting which is exactly what we need at the end of the winter. We use it in our Bath Bombs and our Bath Salts both of which are both very popular for foot baths to hydrate feet and get them ready to be seen in sandals again!

Recently we have been inspired to bring back together all the scents from the Orange tree and blended a scent which is made up from all the essential oils of the Orange tree. The orange blossom, the leaf and the stem. The scent truly embraces you and we have called it 'Harmony'. We have used it in the Soya Massage Candle and the Harmony Roll.

Finally with spring in the air and lots of un sprayed oranges to be found every where, there are the        SOAPS!
The orange peel goes a wonderful translucent colour when grated onto the soaps at the end of the production as a finishing touch. It acts as a slight abrasive and is helpful with removing cooking smells from the hands.

We made some soaps for a young couple getting married in Britain who have fond memories and connection with Mallorca. Charlie and Emily 's soaps had the scent of Oranges and the label carried this quote by Jaques Prevert

"An orange on the table, your dress on the rug, and you in my bed, sweet present of the present, cool of night, warmth of my life."

As you can see Oranges go a long way here in Mallorca. Maybe send us your ideas and photos of things you have done with Oranges !

Gaia News for Spring 2014

News for Spring 2014

http://www.museofridakahlo.org.mx

January saw me travelling to Mexico and Florida. Leaving our beautiful island and taking a look at what else is out there in the world has become more important with every year. Not only is it healthy to step away and take a look at life, business and yourself from afar, it helps you get a better over view. It is important to take stock here and there and assess, think, plan and most importantly rest.

When I go to other places and see how other folk run their lives and  businesses the new inspirations and impulses alway help me to return with a mountain of plans, ideas and new energy.

I loved Mexico, its beautiful light and colours and really experienced it as an essence of every thing Spanish. All the things that I have come to love about Spain, there they are but intensified.
New Orleans, its French influence, the marvellous musical indulgence and a look at early American apothecary all excited and delighted me.
Florida and The Keys, meeting island people, much like island people everywhere….
sunset celebrations and always and everywhere I was on the look out for ideas how the hand made soap and natural cosmetics genre is interpreted in other places.
