Luscious Locks..aromatherapy for beautiful hair

Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.  ~Kahlil Gibran

Great hair is something we take for granted, until we start to lose it. Hair loss can inspire agonizing fear and insecurity in many women. On the request of one of my worried clients I have set out to research for the perfect hair therapy.

WHY DOES IT HAPPEN?
The causes are numerous - hormonal changes in the body, the genes and troubled hair sculp being among the mains ones. Other reasons are - certain edication, lack of iron, stress and smoking seem to have impact as well.

HEALTHY SKIN is the key
So head to the bathroom and check on your shampoo and conditioner label for its chemical composition. Conservants?Linked to cancer. Fragrance? Toxic chemical extracts. Sodium laurel sulphate? Petrol derivate  and strong skin irritant, fuels yeast infection. Methylisothiazoline (MIT)? Potentially linked to nerve damage (http://www.naturalnews.com/003210.html)
Glycerin? Draws out moisture from deeper skin layers, dries out your skin etc.

Look for more information on the chemical content of the standard hair products at:

Gaia Gentle Cleansing Shampoo which is prepared with Lavender. Also available at GAIAbathtime our Anti Dandruff Shampoo, enriched with essential oils of Basil, Rosemary, Thyme and Lavender.

HOW TO DO IT THE NATURAL WAY?

HAIR RINSE FOR SHINY HAIR
To remove all product deposits and to restore shine, try this apple vinegar rinse after washing and conditioning the hair.
25ml vinegar
100ml spring water
3 drops Rosemary essential oil
3 drops Lavander essential oil

HAIR CONDITIONING FOR DRY AND DAMAGED HAIR
Use an aromatherapeutic blend in organic oil base to massage your sculp prior to shampooning. Regular head massage in general improves blood circulation to the skin and nourishes the hair follicles.
Essential oils that stimulate haire growth are:
Rosemary, Clary Sage, Thyme, Rose, Palma Rosa, Lemon, Calendula. All of them are richly present in Gaia Gentle Hair Conditioners.

AROMATHERAPEUTIC BLEND FOR HAIR GROWTH
2 drops Cedarwood
2 drops Thyme
3 drops Rosemary
3 drops Lavander
1 teaspoon jojoba oil
20ml grapeseed oil
Plan your hair washing for the morning so that you can apply this blend overnight. Rub with your fingertips few drops into the skin of your head.

Argan Hair Elexir, prepared with Argan Oil, Apricot Oil and gentle healing and balancing essential oils. Apply to the tips of hair daily if necessary and all over your hair for half an hour just before washing!

BENEFITS OF REGULAR HEAD MASSAGE
To multiply the benefits of the above oil blend, take time massaging the sculp of your head every day for at least 2 minutes. Apart from aiding the hair growth, massaging the sculp releases acumulated tension in the face, neck and shoulder area and is extremely relaxing.

To help our clients deal with their hair worries, we have introduced in Gaia bathtime a new 30min head massage treatment - THE RITUAL OF CHAMPISSAGE which will be combining aromatherapy with champissage - the famous head massage technique coming from India where women take lots of pride in their strong hair. To testify that its success I have already had few ladies coming back with beatiful hair full of life!!

All products and treatments available at GAIAbathtime, Calle Corderia 28, Palma de Mallorca

  1. Great recipes, the vinegar rinse is realy working. It leaves the hair very soft and shiny even the dry curly hair! What you can do, put in a transparent bottle some rosemary, apple vinegar and clean water. Close it well, put into the sun, and shake it every day during a week. Than put some drops of essential oil of lavander, or tea tree, and you can use it like in the recipe above, but you can store it in the fridge during weeks.
Have fun and beautiful, shiny hair!
