Summer in Gaia

Marta  from Spain and Jacopo from Italy
Summer as always is our lovliest but also busiest time at Gaia but this summer we have had a lot of wonderful help. In the shop we have Anni and Florence helping us out with the sales. Both of them have been amazing! Up at the Gaia Finca we have had a host of Whoofers helping on all fronts. Not only helping and learning our production techniques but also helping on the finca, clearing land, pruning trees and making firewood ready for the winter.

Davina collecting Lavender
It has been nice to have all these young eager people from all over the world around. We learned from them too, specificaly Davina from the Bask Country who has a great knowledge of indiginous medicinal plants. We collected Hypericum flowers and put them into unrefined olive oil and strained it on the dia of Sant Juan. The oil turned a wonderful red colour and heals scrapes and grazes really well and fast. Hypericum is locally known as Sant Juans herb and in other parts of the world it is known as Sant Johns Wort. I saw lots of it growing in England when I visited my kids in Norfolk                                                   this summer.

You will all be pleased to hear that our finca was not hurt by the forest fires which raged within kilomters from us here in Andraitx for 6 days in late July. It was a really worrying time and we have much to be grateful for, as some of our neighboring fincas were not so lucky.

We launched some new products this summer.
A Pure Aloe Vera Aftersun Roll On made with 100 % pure Aloe Vera juice. The plants were grown, harvested and expressed here on the Gaia Finca. We just added 1% Lavender and Rosemary essential oil to scent it, preserve it and of course for its calming and healing properties. Who in these sunny does not need a good smothering of Aloe Vera at the end of a day?

We also launched two new Hand Creams, a Rose Hand Cream made from an old recipe that goes back to the Middleages when women took special care of their hands, as well cared for hands, that didn t do the dishes, showed you were a Lady of high status. The other one is a Lemon Hand Cream, an Italian recipe, that the Ladies there like to use to eliminate the smell of garlic and onion from their hands.

Our Gaia Man Range http://gaiabathtime.blogspot.com.es/2011/06/gaia-man-new-gaia-natural-product.html

It's made from 100% Soya Wax and has a Neroli and Rose scent.
